‘Ever since you found Prerna, I lost my best friend’ is what I told Saurabh.

Hi, this is Keshav, and Saurabh, my best friend, flatmate, colleague and business partner, won’t talk to me. Because I made fun of him and his fiancée.

Saurabh and Prerna will be getting married soon. It is an arranged marriage. However, there is more cheesy romance between them than any love-marriage couple.

On Karva Chauth, she fasted for him. She didn’t eat all day. In the evening, she called him and waited on the terrace for the moon and for Saurabh to break her fast. Excited, Saurabh ran up the steps of her three-storey house. But when he reached …

I will keep my review very short in few points..

Plus :-
- Writing is simple & easy and you can read it in one or two sitting.
- Reference of previous book 'Girl in Room 105' brings back memories of beautiful Zara Lone.
- There are many characters and when placed well it increases the fun and.. suspense gets bigger.
- For me it was impossible to figure out who the murderer is until writer decided to reveal.
- Previous one and this book, both have movie worthy story.
- Keshav and Sourabh, make blend of perfect friend chemistry between them.

Minus :-
- Some pages were hard to read esp when the main culprit shares the reason for killing.
- Reading testimony of Malhotra Family in excruciating details was pain. Though it was necessary.
- If we consider story and attachment with characters, pervious book had bigger impact on me.
- Lovelorn Keshav over womanizer Keshav, any day. (This is just a personal opinion. Nothing to do with ratings).

I pre-ordered the book and Amazon promptly delivered it on 27 September. And as usual it was an autographed copy. Truly grateful to Amazon and Chetan Bhagat for that.

Well, actually I am a fan of Chetan Bhagat. Have purchased all his books so far. But ain't too sure whether I will continue to do so in times to come!!

However, for one, I would say that the title 'One Arranged Murder' isn't too apt for the book. It kinda gives away certain aspects. The reader, ab initio, knows that the death is a murder, whereas the book takes too long to establish this fact.

Secondly, Chetan seems to have written it keeping a Hindi Movie producer in mind who would buy the rights for a hefty sum. Thus, it looses it's ingenuity there.

The book has all the typical Hindi Movie masala in abundance. Pre marital & Extramarital Sex, drugs, murder, incest, two wannabe detectives, dysfunctional family, children born out of wedlock, deceit and what have you.

But my compliments for a very lucid writing. It's a good one time read. The twists, too, are well thought out. However, the end seems a trifle too contrived.

Go for it if you are a Chetan Bhagat fan.

Every Chetan Bhagat Book reminds me of the desire of why I ever started reading. His characters are always relatable. Like you have a best friend, or a cousin, or neighbor, or bestie's fiancee, or someone you know like one of the characters.I got a signed copy on the day of the book release, so that was a first for me.
Ok, talking about the book. If you have read Chetan Bhagat in the past you will understand this. "it is a typical Chetan Bhagat Book". What I mean is -
*you don't have to sit with the dictionary,
*you would want to finish reading this in one go. (I took two nights since I read on weekdays after work),
*There is no eye-opener, heart-wrenching, thought-provoking moments. You just enjoy reading it out of curiosity and the juiciness.
I don't want to send out spoilers since this is a new book and I would let people buy their copy and judge. But I had a lot of exciting and relatable moments, as the story is set up in NCR.

I would just want to conclude with this. "Love it or hate it, you can't miss a Chetan Bhagat book.

Have you ever been in love?
What if you decide to meet your love and all you find is cold dead body of your beloved?

Saurabh and Prerna, purely foodies, over sized, but cute were in 'arranged love'.She took Karva Chauth for Suarabh. But she didn't knew that it was her last day.

Keshav is a smart intelligent person who doesn't believe in real love but yes entertains hookups and sleepovers. He puts his heart and soul in the work he does but not under his boss Jacob. Keshav meets Anjali, cousin of Prerna and feels attracted to her but gets warned by his roomate/bestfriend Suarabh as he says ' Don't play with family!'.

Ramesh, father of Prerna, a well settle classic business man, owning Porsche showroom, values dignity and family honour. He lives with two sisters and a brother - Bindu, Geetu(who lives in America) and Aditya along with his wife Neelam. He worths family more than anything and saves family from any kind of threat.

Aditya is Prerna's chachu, a compassionate music lover, a free bird, drug addict and according to Ramesh, useless worthless brother.

Anjali is an Indo-American fellow, a bright lady, a freelancer, was a journalist, commited in uncertain hookups, has arrived to meet her family. She is the one who unfolds many dark unknown secrets of Malhotra family.

ACP Rana and Inspector Singh are in charge of the murder case that happens at Malhotra's residence who are accompanied by detectives Suarabh and Keshav.

The story which develops from the tension- Death of Prerna gets complicated at the death of Aditya. Anyhow, the murderer is the same person and is in the family itself. This is the mystery that Suarabh and Keshav has to solve. Being outsiders it's not easy for them to indulge into their family secrets and find out the killer, but Saurabh does it for his love and Keshav does it for his friend. The story is written in pakka Chetan Bhagat style, informal, funny, interesting but at the same time keeps the reader hooked. I didn't find any deviations in the story but yes the plot seems complicated yet interesting. The complexities and the twist was indeed a jaw dropper. It's been very long since I read Chetan's work, but yes this seems to my kind of story- thriller fiction and I liked it. It ends with a positive note that truth always finds a way, just as love does. But...

Who is the killer? Saurabh? Ramesh? Aditya? Anjali? or Keshav himself? Get your copy and findout yourself.

Reading Bhagat's first crime novel about the "Girl in room 105", I wasn't quite sure whether the author's turn to another genre would convince me. It certainly did. "An arranged murder" continued this path and convinced me as well.
I liked the two protagonists Keshav and Saurabh and their diverging views and attitudes towards life and their constant clashes and reconciliation attempts. The final turn showing us the real murderer was completely unexpected although one had already gone through the protagonists' list of suspects.

If I were to make a wish, I would like Bhagat to write another sequel with a more satisfactory ending for Keshav and Saurabh. Somehow, these two pals deserve it.

I loved reading this book. The end was unpredictable and awesome! Read this book in 3 days as I couldn't wait for the suspense!! Writing is simple and continuous. Reading the testimonies of the Malhotra family was a bit pain but worth it. Got emotional in the ending with tears in my eyes.. loved the book!

It’s a great narrative. Being a Bhagat fan , I tend to compare with his previous books. This one is a great plot and very simple to read. But I miss his metaphors and analogies he gave in other novels especially about a guy’s feelings. I learnt this about indian men from his books - The species we otherwise assume aren’t very expressive about feelings have a lot of them!!! That one part was missing. But a SURE READ. Also missed his highlights of social issues without judgment. But sometimes you can do without them. Great work, Chetan.

I am a real fan of Mr. Chetan Bhagat's books. He has written with strong characters and very interesting storylines. So I was anxiously waiting for his latest work. Unfortunately, i was completely disappointed. Too many characters, uneven flow of story etc. It is possible that he wrote this book to fulfil a contractual commitment.
